Ad budget split planner

split a single budget across three channels, each with its own cost per install, and see what you actually get. the blended number at the bottom is the one to watch, because a cheap channel with no volume will not save an expensive one with all of it.

What this is really for

planning a month before you spend it, and arguing with yourself about the split. put your real costs in, then try shifting ten points from the expensive channel to the cheap one and see what it buys.

the answer is almost always "more installs", which is why the model alone should not decide your split. cheap channels have limits.

Why the cheapest channel should not get everything

every channel has a volume ceiling where costs start climbing, because you exhaust the people who respond easily and start paying for the ones who do not. pushing your whole budget into the cheapest channel usually raises its cost until it is no longer the cheapest.

reddit deserves a specific warning. it can be cheap, but it is small, and scaling spend there fast is how you burn the goodwill that made it cheap in the first place.

FAQ

Common questions

How many channels should I run at seed?

one, properly, until it works. splitting a small budget three ways usually means none of them gets enough data to learn from, so you end up with three inconclusive results instead of one clear answer.

Where do I get my cost per install figures?

from your own accounts if you have run anything at all, even briefly. if you have not, run the ad funnel calculator with conservative assumptions and use that. do not use industry averages, they are averages of businesses that are not yours.
